AQUIFER SPRING

The aquifer spring is a signature feature of CLT, the emerging as a trickle from the boggy lowlands in the valley of CLT, gradually cascading over small falls before entering the Cisco Branch.

With the temperature of its water a near constant 40°F, the aquifer helps to keep the river open even in the deepest of winter along with a series of other aquifers downstream from CLT.

Clearing and maintenance of the aquifer have helped to keep a constant flow with a sandy bottom gradually taking hold. Additional improvements will involve the clearing of a pond area where the aquifer first emerges.
