In 1964, at the age of 50, Les Kerlin fulfilled his dream by purchasing a lake cottage where he occasionally could escape his life as a fire protection engineer. He lived there in one form or another for the next 23 years with his somewhat reluctant but always-loving wife, Marion Kerlin. Les christened the place Villa Kissmoot, in honor of of his first grandchild, Kristen Marut.
