THE NATURAL WORLD
Thanks to a variety of trees, plants, terrain and waterways, CLT teems with diversity. Whether it is an acre of equisetem, a field of Jack-in-the-Pulpit, groves of Hemlocks, multiple sub-species of ferns, the incessant tapping of the Pileated Woodpecker or a riverful of crayfish, CLT has it all.
The property was logged circa 1997 and signs of this disruption remain evident through non-native weeds and giant stumps of once great trees. Thanks to the sloping ravines leading to the river, however, stands of older growth trees still remain. Tree restoration projects include thinning of maple trees and planting of deciduous trees like White Pines and Tamaraks.
Other restoration projects include aiding in the profligation of native plants like Canadian Mayflower, Jack-in-the-Pulpit and Nodding Trillium while encouraging wildlife.
